Co-founder and joint Managing Director
After graduating with a degree in Economics and Maths, Greg Mayes qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young in London, working with financial service clients - investment banks and insurance companies.
Greg spent several years working for the UK’s leading accountancy training provider before embarking on the CFA® program and turning his focus toward investment banking and investment management. He worked in the financial training sector for 8 years before moving in-house as Head of Professional Development for Barclays Global Investors (now Blackrock). Here, Greg was responsible for management, design and delivery of an in-house core curriculum and the launch of the first firm-wide graduate development program in 2005. He moved on to be Head of Financial Markets Training at Barclays Capital, responsible for both internal product training as well as working with Sales to deliver bespoke client training solutions. This was predominantly in the area of derivative products and applications in trading, investment and portfolio risk management. Examples of Greg’s training workshops include structured exotic FX notes for corporates; equity and FX structures for ultra high net worth clients; credit and rate risk solutions and trading strategies for investor clients, such as swap-based LDI investing.
Greg now has 20 years of experience working in and around investment banks, wealth managers and institutional fund managers, giving him a broad inside knowledge of the industry demands.
This inside track, together with his academic strength, means Greg has a wealth of practical and academic knowledge. As a trainer, Greg Mayes has worked with many major investment banks, including Morgan Stanley, Barclays Capital, Bank of America (Merrill Lynch), RBS and HSBC. He has also authored a text on financial mathematics aimed at the graduate market. He delivers training in the areas of accounting, financial analysis and derivatives products and investment and trading strategies. Greg also delivers training to ACT (the Association of Corporate Treasurers) candidates in the areas of international treasury management and corporate finance.
